Side Effects Include

So I’m listening to an ad for a certain shot. Which one, is not important.

They started listing side effects. The first one was injection site pain.

Say what?

First, is that really considered a side effect of the drug? I’m thinking not.

Second, are we really that stupid that we need to be warned that one of the side effects of having a LARGE NEEDLE JABBED INTO YOUR FLESH is that it might hurt?

I mean, seriously. Was there actually someone who, after getting their shot, called their attorney and said, “Man! They never told me getting a needle in my arm would hurt!”

I can tell you why they say that. I had a shot of antibiotic last fall and the injection site hurt for FOUR MONTHS. And I’m not talking about a little boo-boo. It hurt all the way to the bone (yes, it was in my behind). Every time I ran, walked, jumped, climbed stairs, you name it, I winced.

I later found out some antibiotics are “really potent” – that’s from a nurse – but it sure would’ve been nice to have that warning ahead of time!

Wow. OK. That makes sense. A lot more than, “this will hurt a little.”

I might add that the commercial, actually said “TEMPORARY site injection pain.” Which is why I said what I said. In your case, 4 months doesn’t sound temporary.

Now that you mention it, I had numbness in my chin for four months after my wisdom teeth were removed. Maybe my body just takes that long to recover? Hmm….
