As many people know, Twitter is has become all the rage. You can follow interesting or not-so-interesting celebrities and other people. They do this by sending out “tweets.” Tweets are 140 character or less updates.
Now if your idea of fun isn’t twitter stalking Jessica Simpson or Britney Spears, and you’d like something a little more meaty and intellectual, then you’ve come to the right blog.
Today’s discussion is on Twitter fiction magazines. Yes, there actually is such a thing an animal as Twitter fiction. Stories told within the 140 character limit.
Laugh if you like, but some of these stories are pretty darn good (and I don’t say that because I just had one published Saturday).
This is the ultimate in flash fiction. Stories that get right to the point and often leave an impression that lasts longer than it took to read.
So here then is a list of a few Twitterzines you might find interesting.
Nanoism, @nanoism is an any genre fiction magazine.
Thaumatrope, @thaumatrope is a speculative fiction magazine specializing in Sci-Fi, fantasy, and horror.
Tweet the Meat, @tweetthemeat is a horror and weird fiction magazine.
Outshine, @outshine, specializes in near future prose poems.
Seven by Twenty, @7×20 publishes literary and Sci-Fi stories and poems.
Give them a chance. Obviously they won’t take up much of your time. It’s literature in a hurry, so to speak. It might brighten, or horrify depending on the magazine, your day and you’ll be supporting real honest-to-goodness writers.
