Welcome to another exciting episode of Old Time Radio!
It’s October, and soon will be Halloween. So it seems only appropriate to post some Horror episodes this month.
This particular episode is an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Dunwich Horror” from the show, Suspense!
Suspense aired on CBS Radio from 1942 through 1962 and it was one of the premiere OTR shows, attracting top radio personalities and many Hollywood stars. It is arguably one of top shows aired during the Golden Age of Radio.
“The Dunwich Horror” is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft that was written in 1928 and first published in the April 1929 issue of Weird Tales. The story introduces such Cthulhu Mythos staples as Yog-Sothoth, one of the extra-dimensional Old Ones, and Lovecraft’s infamous grimoire, the Necronomicon.
This episode of Suspense, “The Dunwich Horror,” stars Ronald Colman (he was nominated for the Academy Award four times, winning it once, and also won a Golden Globe Award). It originally aired on November 1, 1945. It’s airtime is approximately 24:03.
So turn out the lights, turn up your MP3 player, and enjoy, “The Dunwich Horror.”
