I double-dog dare you! A reading of “The Raven”

My friend Peter Damien posted a youtube video of John DeLancie (Q from ST:NG) reading Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” It was a good reading and made me look for many more. If you youtube “The Raven” you’ll find several wonderful versions by Christopher Walken, Vincent Price, and Basil Rathbone, to name just a few.

Anyway, I digress. Peter thought it would be fun, it being Halloween and all, if we each decided to record ourselves reading “The Raven” and posting it.

OK, despite the fact that I’m a horrible out-loud reader — I tend to stumble over words, misprounounce them, just utterly mash up whatever it is I read, as you’ll soon hear — I said, “Sure, I’ll give it a go.”

Here then, is my rather unassuming and embarrassing reading of “The Raven” by the great Edgar Allan Poe.

“The Raven”

Hope you like it, Pete.

  2. I didn’t think it was embarrassing at all, I thought you did a really good job. And frankly, when you’re reading something that has words like “obesience” in it…you’re allowed to stumble over words. You did a triffic job, I thought.

Anyway, I’m just thrilled you DID IT. I must double-dog-dare more often. 😀
